Paradigm Shift: The City of 1000 Tanks, Chennai

¨If humanity in the Anthropocene has the power to alter the world to such an extent that it no longer supports life, it should also have the power to restore nature to ensure its continued existence in a sustainable manner.¨

The Ruby Press has published the Ooze paper titled ´Paradigm shift: The City of 1,000 Tanks, Chennai´ written by our director Eva Pfannes about the importance of designing with nature in cities and the systemic approach to tackling complex urban problems and climate adaptation. The paper was presented at the LafargeHolcim Forum for Sustainable Construction on “Re-materializing Construction” held at the American University in Cairo, Egypt in April 2019 and published in ´The Materials Book´ by Ruby Press . The City of 1000 Tanks is part of the Water as Leverage for Resilient Cities Asia programme with support from Henk Ovink, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), Global Resilient Cities Network (GRCN), International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, Architecture Workroom Brussels, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, Pegasys, WWF Cities and Water Youth Network among others.
