The first fully functioning Água Carioca Pilot was constructed in the gardens of the Sítio Roberto Burle Marx. The toilet and its decentralised water treatment unit is used by the Employees of the Sítio and also by the visitors.
Alongside the pilot, the Sítio hosted an exhibition of the Água Carioca research project, the design and construction process of the pilot as well as the documentary, Água Carioca Diaries.
